About The Role

DHL are seeking experienced and inspirational Cabin Quality Supervisor to join their team at Heathrow Airport.

The Cabin Quality Supervisor role will be responsible for leading a team of aircraft cleaners during the operational day. This position will play a key and essential role in ensuring completion of each allocated aircraft on time and within the agreed customer quality expectations, playing an integral part in motivating teams to complete the job ‘right first time’. 

Feeding into the BA cabin cleaning control centre, this role will focus on punctuality, on time performance and engagement standards for each flight, inspiring the team to work collaboratively and systematically to aircraft turnaround cleaning specifications.

Reporting to the duty manager on shift, they will complete audits and ensure team collaboration with a focus on Health and Safety in all aspects of the teams’ tasks. Quality of the clean to a consistently high standard will be the direct responsibly of the Cabin Quality Supervisor where they will be expected to lead by example when working within the operation.

As a Cabin Quality Supervisor your key responsibilities will include:

Coaching Colleagues
  • On the job training and coaching of colleagues in the art of cabin cleaning, including adherence to cleaning quality standards and cleaning specifications.
  • Ensuring all team members welcome new colleagues and embody DHL's inclusivity and diverse culture.
  • Upskill and develop cabin appearance colleagues to be future supervisors.
  • Help with the on boarding of new colleagues making sure they feel supported.
  • Coach colleagues in correct Health & Safety practices when cleaning and working within the airport.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Ensure the team meet all tasks that are allocated for cleaning.
  • Manage operational staff on shift to deliver a consistent and quality service in line with contractual SLAs.
  • Liaise with teams on a daily basis and ensure that any outstanding issues are followed up and completed.
  • Communicate with all relevant parties regarding any potential problems which may be encountered.
  • Ensure staff carry out thorough checks on their equipment and look after it during shift.
  • Oversee performance during shift and coach staff where required.
  • Liaise with Cabin Crew and the TRM community to facilitate the smooth running of the schedule
  • Report and challenge any aircraft disturbances that would effect quality or on time performance.
Cleaning Monitoring Activities
  • To coordinate your team to complete the clean of all interior areas of the aircraft cabin including the removal of blankets, vacuuming aircraft carpets, wiping down of tables, walls, overhead bins, windows and removing trash from seat pockets.
  • Ensure all seat pockets with airline materials are as per customer requirements
  • Monitor teams performance and overall clean of lavatories, wash basins, surfaces, mirrors and replenish lavatory supplies. 
  • Clean and sanitise aircraft galleys - mopping floors and wiping down of work surfaces. 
  • Check that seatbelts on seats are cleaned and crossed, placement of headrests are neat, pillows and blankets are dressed correctly and are presentable
  • Provide security cleans/checks as required in accordance with GSS training.
  • To complete any other duties the duty or airside shift manager may ask you to complete.
  • To have good attention to detail and observe all health and safety and airport regulations
  • Handling cleaning materials with care and consideration to minimize damage to BA property or personal injury
  • Ensure that any issues are raised to either the Duty Manager or Airside Shift Manager.
  • Ensure agreed KPIs are met.
  • Develop positive working relationships with the customer (CSC team, cabin crew and TRM community). 
  • Check all equipment for cleanliness, serviceability and damage - report any issues to a Duty Manager or the Airside Shift Manager immediately. 
  • On long haul, ensure cabin amenities, laundry and linen items are loaded correctly by the high lift teams. Ensure high lifts do not depart the aircraft until shortages are dealt with and all excess stock has been removed.
  • Ensure cleaning teams and, on long haul, high lift teams, are following the correct waste (inc Cat 1 waste) procedures and waste is not left on the ramp. 
  • Ensure all GSE is used in an appropriate manner and report any issues to a manager immediately.
People Management
  • Liaising with peers to discuss best practice 
  • Ensuring new colleagues are inducted and welcomed to the workplace 
  • Take responsibility for the day to day and line management of cabin appearance colleagues 
About You

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous supervisory experience and team management. In addition, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A current UK driving licence
  • Able to get a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS) and Counter Terrorism Check clearance (CTC)
  • Experience working within a cleaning role is desirable but not essential
  • Good standard of general education or abundant on the job experience in aircraft cleaning
