About The Role

A building services design technician provides assistance to construction professionals in the development of cost effective technical and sustainable design solutions involving the production of three-dimensional models, calculations, specifications, reports and drawings taking into account, where appropriate, pre-fabrication techniques. 

This vacancy is for Building Services Design, however we have number of other roles available that can be searched through our careers page or by downloading our overview brochure.

Duties will include:

  • Using appropriate software and simulation systems to solve technical problems
  • Finding solutions to engineering issues by using the current resources
  • Contributing to planning, managing work schedules, budgets and deadlines
  • Adhering to the correct scientific, technological and mathematical principles to support the design process
  • Adhering to regulations such as Construction, Design and Management (CDM), hazard identification and risk mitigation

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Candidates must have GCSE Maths and English at C and above or equivalent
  • Experience using design systems preferred but not essential

36 months

Qualification Title:

Candidates will be qualified as a level 3 Building Services Design Technician

Link to Professional Registration:

On completion apprentices will be eligible for registration as an Engineering Technician by the relevant professional engineering institution

As an apprentice on the Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, you will have the opportunity to work with leading companies such as: Balfour Beatty, Morgan Sindall, MACE, Ferrovial, Dyer & Butler and their supply chain.

Throughout your Apprenticeship, you will be fully supported by a dedicated Apprentice Programme Manager at the Heathrow Employment & Skills Academy, who will keep in touch and offer assistance as required throughout the duration of your Apprenticeship.

The Shared Apprenticeship Scheme is provided through K10 Apprenticeships.

K10 is an Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA), accredited by the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), that manages the delivery of high-quality apprenticeship and traineeship programmes within the construction sector. It is independent of any other organisation whilst working in collaboration with government, local authorities, developers, contractors, sub-contractors, training providers and 3rd sector organisations.
